15 Reasons WHY You Need a MENTOR in Your Life

Maybe you are in a moment of your life where you are struggling to find a job; maybe you want to learn more about time management or maybe you just need someone to listen to you. Well, if you are struggling with any of these concerns, then you definitely need a mentor in your life.

A mentor is any person in your life who has been in your shoes and who can assist you to get out of that dark tunnel. Mentors play a fundamental role in everyone's life especially when it comes to your journey to success. They know what it means to be where you are right now and they can provide you with valuable knowledge.

Nowadays having a mentor is quite simple. You can have a mentor at work, in university, or even through a friend. The most successful people like Warren Buffet, Oprah Winfrey, and Bill Gates had mentors as well. So let me tell you 15 reasons why you need a mentor.

  1. They went through the same struggles you are facing right now

  2. They are trustworthy people; they are your confidant

  3. They can provide you with unbiased feedback

  4. It is free to have a mentor - In many places to get help like consultation, we need to pay, but with a mentor, it is FREE.

  5. You are more likely to succeed if you have a mentor in your life

  6. They provide you with valuable connections

  7. They encourage you to learn and keep learning

  8. They want you to succeed and they will do anything for you to achieve success

  9. They keep you grounded with your goals

  10. They are emphatic and compassionate people

  11. They help you to challenge yourself and get out of your comfortable zone

  12. They will help you to get clarity with your goals

  13. You will learn from their mistakes

  14. They will encourage you to follow your dreams

  15. They will be your source of inspiration

Luckily, many companies want their employees to succeed and one way is through mentorship programs. Indeed, you can have access to a mentor at work where firms have a designated program where employees can easily get matched to senior co-workers based on their needs. And if you are not working, you can also have a mentor in your community. In addition, there are different organizations that also offer free mentorship programs like Femme Palette where you can have access to a variety of professionals from different backgrounds and you can easily get paired up with someone just by filling out a questionnaire.

I am a big proponent of having a mentor and being a mentor. There is nothing more fulfilling when you can share your wisdom and knowledge with the world.

“A mentor is someone who allows you to see the hope inside yourself.”
— Oprah Winfrey
